Covid-19 has exposed many cracks in how businesses are run and the quality of leadership.
And those countries that have fared better during the pandemic have tended to be led by more empathic leaders, who listen to multiple sources, ask questions, are inclusive, considered and collaborative in their responses. Furthermore, they aren’t afraid to display their vulnerability.

Is the old “command and control”, macho, heroic style of leadership finally dead?

I highly recommend the work of three male authors who demonstrate their leadership through judicious sharing of their vulnerability, the mistakes they made, what they learned and how they adapted.

Take a look at Just Ask by Andy Lopata, Vicious Cycle by Jim Rees and Humble Crumbles: Savouring the crumbs of wisdom from the rise and fall of Humble Pie by my co-author, PaulO’Donnell.

Question for reflection

What do you think are the most appropriate traits of leaders for our times?
