When I gaze out from my home office window I notice many more people walking in the neighbourhood. I also hear complaints from clients and associates that they are exhausted sitting all day participating in online meetings.
It got me thinking about the importance of our bodies or what is known as somatics.
Most of us have been educated to think rationally and logically. We believe that intellectual knowledge is the key to solving our challenges. Of course these capacities are critical. Yet if we rely only on these capacities without considering more broadly how our body dispositions impact our abilities to be creative and collaborative we are limiting our potential.
In an earlier article I explore 5 body archetypes and how being able to flex between them allows us a greater range of interactions and outcomes. As an executive, business owner or parent you have to keep commitments, lead a group, negotiate and be creative.
Do you ever consider how your body will enable or disable you from completing these actions?
Or, like many of us, do you simply consider your body the vehicle that carries your head around?
I invite you to have a conversation with me about how you can increase the range of your body dispositions to enable you to make changes and take on different roles and responsibilities. Send me a note sylvana@sylvanacaloni.com or call me +44 (0) 79520 68133 and we can arrange a time.
